How to download SRTM data and Aster data for required Location?
Step1: To download SRTM or Aster data for particular location, first you have to register on
https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/ for SRTM and
https://gdemdl.aster.jspacesystems.or.jp/index_en.html for Aster data
Step 2: After registration, login to the website, there are 4 steps to follow while you’re downloading the data i.e.
- Enter
Search Criteria: Data can be downloaded using any of the three methods i.e.,
Polygon, Circle or Predefined Area
Polygon: Zoom to the area of interest and click on Use Map to select the complete displayed area.
Circle: Area can be selected based on centre Lat Long with radius information
Predefined Area: Select from the list of predefined area to select the region
Apart from these, it is possible to upload KML/Shapefile and download data for that region. Select KML/Shapefile Upload option and follow the procedure as displayed.
- Data sets: After selecting the area of interest, go to Data sets tab. Search for SRTM 1 Arc-second global dataset and select it from the list. (For Aster data, search for ASTER GLOBAL DEM V3)
- Click on Results tab, available data sets will be displayed.
- Click on Download Options button
- Download options will display all the data available.
- AutoPlotter Supports GeoTIFF and BIL data. You can download the data by clicking on the Download button.
Step 3: After downloading the SRTM or Aster data, place them in:
C://Program Files (x86)/Common Files/AutoPlotter/Resource/SRTM data or Aster data
OR
C://Program Files/Common Files/AutoPlotter/Resource/SRTM data or Aster data
