How to calculate the median area & Shoulder area / volume using Custom Enclosed Area / Line?

Custom Enclosed/Line option is used to define custom line or to calculate area bound by various lines like OGL, Embankment, design layer or custom line.

The area we want to define should be closed. If it is not closed, we should close it by creating a custom line or by entering the x & y anchor points of the polyline in the definition.

Procedure to define custom line:
Step:1 Select Custom Enclosed/Line under Config menu
Step:2 Click on New button and give a name for the line
Step:3 Click on the Use Point Set option, the data entry form will be displayed as shown below:

Anchor Point X & Y are the places where coordinate value of each point of the polyline can be entered. This can be absolute values or it can be anchor points like PC1, LCW1 etc. You can press F10 to open the offset selection window. If the anchor point is selected in X field, X coordinate value will be considered e.g. PC1 is selected in Anchor Point X, the X value of the proposed center is taken into consideration. So if a custom line is to be defined from left fill toe to left shoulder the definition will be in the first row: Anchor Point X: LTF1 Anchor Point Y: LTF1 and in the second row: Anchor Point X: LS1 Anchor Point Y: LS1

To display the custom line in the cross section, checkmark on Show in CS option, select required color and click on Save button to save the definition.

Procedure to define custom enclosed area:

Step:1 Click on New button and give a name for the area and select Use Region-Line & Point option.
Step:2 Enter Anchor Point X and Y values. This is a point which lies in the enclosed area that we want to define. It can be an absolute coordinate value or anchor point + / - value e.g. LT1-0.5

Step:3 Offset Left / Right is the extent of the boundary. It can be used when limiting offset values are to be provided. If there is no limiting offset, these fields can be left blank.

Step:4 In the line name field, the lines those form the enclosed area needs to be entered. It can even be selected using F10 button. Click in the Line Name box and press F10 key. All the lines as shown in the below image will be available for selection. Select the line in each subsequent rows, press F10 and select the line.

Step:5 To hatch in the enclosed region, you can select the hatch pattern. To display the area in cross section, checkmark the option and select the required color.
Step:6 Click on Save button to save the area.
